Configuration steps from scratch
This section covers the basic configuration of itmSUITE® from scratch.(when no data is present) This includes:
- Application settings
- Company creation
- License configuration
- Admin user creation
- Cross master data
It is recommended to perform the configuration in the order listed. For more information on how to perform each configuration step refer to the dedicated page.
Application settings
In General/System/Application Settings some key settings shall be defined.for the itmSUITE® environment To manage them first of all you shall access as a superadmin to the system. See the page Application Settings page for more details.
Other environment configurations, available under General/System, are the following:

General/System/Import from LDAP | Users | It allows to import users information from a LDAP server.

Those above are advanced configurations which are usually skipped during the initial installation apart from those needed to execute the next two steps. They may be completed later.
Company creation
Now it is time to create a company. See the Company creation and the Company management pages for more details.
License configuration
The license to activate a company shall be configured to be able to complete its activation. As a superadmin use General/System/License Info to access license management features. If you have no license key, please contact your itmSUITE® distributor or direct account to acquire one. If you have no contacts, please write to info@itmsuite.eu. Additional licences for a specific company can be added later by one of its admins.
Admin creation
The next step is to define an admin for the created company. See the Admin user creation page for more details.
Company preparation
At this stage, the admin can update some company master data and settings which will be applied to the company environment.These are:
- company details (with General/Company/Company Info; see the Company information management page for more details;
- creation of managers (with General/System/User Management, see the Users and resources management page for more details) in charge of the next configuration steps;
- detailed rights configuration for managers (with General/Company/MURM, see the Manager User Rights Management page for more details) in charge of the next configuration steps.
Optionally, but probably later on, the admin could also need to update the following data.

Company master data
Once the above preliminary configuration are completed, a manager may finalize the configuration of the company. Most of master data are subject to grant management for managers via MURM (see MURM management). Therefore, verify that the manager in charge of the following configuration has grants to update the master data.

General/Company/Address Types | Addresses | It allows to define Address Type records. Address Type is used for the categorization of the address information used in clients, suppliers and resources. |
General/Company/Countries | Countries | It allows to the available records for Country, a filed used in addresses information. Input all the countries to which clients, suppliers, resources and companies may have addresses referring to (including the addresses of their bank accounts). |
General/Company/Client Types | Clients | It allows to define Client Type records. Client Type is used for the categorization and filtering of clients.

General/Company/Contact Types | Contacts | It allows to define Contact Type records. Contact Type is used for the categorization of contacts, who are used in clients and suppliers. |
General/Company/Currencies | Currencies | It allows to define Currency records.Currencies are used in companies, sales contracts, purchase contracts, projects and services to define the currency they refer to. See Multi currency management for more details. |
General/Company/Currency Rates | Currencies | It allows to enter the currencies exchange rates in time. See Multi currency management for more details.

General/Company/Working Calendar | Companies | It allows to define the company working days calendar for a company.

General/Company/Print Descriptors | Charging | It allows to define, the templates for invoices, invoice attachments, credit notes and timesheet attachments for a particular business language. See Multi language management.

General/Company/Labour Units | Timesheets | It allows to define the corresponding number of working hours in a working day for the company. This is needed to convert hours in days as it is possible to submit either in timesheets.

General/Company/Business Languages | itmSUITE® | It allows to define the business languages which are made available for multi lingual data. See Multi language management. |
General/Company/Application Languages | itmSUITE® | It allows to enter the files containing all the definitions used by itmSUITE® for each application languages. See Multi language management. |
General/Company/Locations | Timesheets | It allows to enter the locations from where the work done can be declared (in timesheets). |

Configuration steps with the default database installed
itmSUITE® installation pacakge is provided with an initial configuration corresponding to a demo environment, It is still recommended to go through the configuration steps described in the previous paragraph in order to get acquainted with the demo environment content and to change configurations according to the needs.
