Semaphores

Da itm wiki.

Semaphores are used for projects and services. They are a set of metrics each used to monitor a particular aspect of the status of a project (project semaphore) or service (service semaphore).

Semaphores may be defined at company level (General/Projects/Semaphores) or per project / service class (General/Projects/Project Classes in Sempahores tab). See the project master data page for more information on project classes.).

Threshold values shall be defined for each semaphore and are used in reports and messages. The available semaphores and their thresholds are described in the following table.

Sempahore Monitored aspect Thresholds
Alert threshold for number of issues with HIGH criticality This metric monitors the project issues or service issues categorized as critical. Number of project issues or service issues categorized with Criticality Level equal to "High" with Close Flag set to "False" (still opened). The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.
Alert threshold for number of non-resolved issues This metric monitors the project issues or service issues still opened. Number of project issues with Close Flag set to "False". This value shall be greater than the alert level for Warning threshold for number of non-resolved  issues. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.
Warning threshold for number of non-resolved  issues This metric monitors the project issues still opened. Number of project issues with Close Flag set to "False". This value shall be minor than the alert level for Alert threshold for number of non-resolved issues (estimated at completion minus budgeted cost). The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded and the Alert threshold for number of non-resolved issues is not triggered.
Percentage alert threshold for cost This metric monitors the total costs of a project or service which is managed in estimations. Depending on the context or choice, the calculation may be based on the current estimation (the one visible in project or service Estimation tab) or the estimation related to the last executed project milestone or service review. Percentage (a number in the range 0-100) referring to the cost deviation from the budgeted value (in estimation) for the overall project or service. This value shall be greater than the Percentage warning threshold for cost. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.
Percentage warning threshold for cost This metric monitors the total costs of a project or service which is managed in estimations. Depending on thecontext or choice, the calculation may be based on the current estimation (the one visiblei n project or service Estimation tab) or the estimation related to the last executed project milestone or service review. Percentage (a number in the range 0-100) referring to the cost deviation from the budgeted value (in estimation) for the overall project or service (estimated at completion minus budgeted cost). This value shall be minor than the Percentage alert threshold for cost. The alert is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded and the Percentage alert threshold for cost is not triggered.
Percentage alert threshold for delay This metric monitors the total delay of the project or service. The calculation is based on the initially expected and currently forecast end dates (see tab General of projects and services) The threshold is a percentage referring to delay in days (Current expected end date minus Initial expected end date) divided initial expected duration (Initial expected end date minus Initial expected start date) as defined in General tab. This value shall be greater than the Percentage warning threshold for delay. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.
Percentage warning threshold for delay This metric monitors the total delay of the project or service. The calculation is based on the initially expected and currently forecast end dates (see tab General of projects and services). The threshold is a percentage referring to delay in days (Current expected end date minus Initial expected end date) divided initial expected duration (Initial expected end date minus Initial expected start date) as defined in General tab. This value shall be minor than the Percentage alert threshold for delay. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded and the Percentage alert threshold for delay is not triggered.
Alert threshold for time interval between milestones (in days) This metric monitors how the project milestones or service reviews are scheduled, in particular the number of days between two consecutive project milestones or service reviews. The threshold refers to the number of days between two consecutive project milestones or service reviews. The number of days is calculated as the Scheduled Execution Date of the successor minus the Scheduled Execution Date of the predecessor. This value shall be greater than the Warning threshold for time interval between milestones (in days). The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.
Warning threshold for time interval between milestones (in days) This metric monitors how the project milestones or service reviews are scheduled, in particular the number of days between two consecutive project milestones or service reviews. The threshold refers to the number of days between two consecutive project milestones or service reviews. The number of days is calculated as the Scheduled Execution Date of the successor minus the Scheduled Execution Date of the predecessor. This value shall be minor than the Alert threshold for time interval between milestones (in days). The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded and the Alert threshold for time interval between milestones (in days) is not triggered.
Last milestone execution alert delay (in days) This metric monitors how much time is passed from the scheduled execution date of the last scheduled project milestone or service review before the current date. In other words, the delay of the execution of the last project milestone or service review to be executed. The threshold refers to the number of days between the current date (the date at the time the calculation is made) minus the Scheduled Execution Date of the latest previous project milestone or service review.

This value shall be greater than the Last milestone execution warning delay (in days). The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.

Last milestone execution warning delay (in days) This metric monitors how much time is passed from the scheduled execution date of the last scheduled project milestone or service review before the current date. In other words, the delay of the execution of the last project milestone or service review to be executed. The threshold refers to the number of days between the current date (the date at the time the calculation is made) minus the Scheduled Execution Date of the latest previous project milestone or service review.

This value shall be minor than the Last milestone execution alert delay (in days). The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded and the Last milestone execution alert delay (in days) is not triggered.

Percentage alert threshold for work This metric monitors the total work (days) of a project or service which is managed in estimations. Depending on the context or choice, the calculation may be based on the current estimation (the one visibile in project or service Estimation tab) or the estimation related to the last executed project milestone or service review. Percentage (a number in the range 0-100) referring to the work deviation from the budgeted value (in estimation) for the overall project or service (estimation at completion minus budgeted work). This value shall be greater than the Percentage warning threshold for work. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.
Percentage warning threshold for work This metric monitors the total work (days) of a project or service which is managed in estimations. This value shall be minor than the Percentage alert threshold for work. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded and the Percentage alert threshold for work is not triggered.
Percentage alert threshold for deliveries This metric monitors the delay of the project or service deliveries. Deliveries are considered late when they are not available at the estimation (current or last certified) date. This happens if the delivery Expected Delivery date is before the evaluation date and the Actual Delivery date is not available and is before the estimation date). Percentage (a number in the range 0-100) calculated as the number of deliveries actually delivered (actual delivery date defined and before estimation date) divided the number of deliveries expected to be delivered (expected delivery date defined and before estimation date) multiplied 100.

This value shall be greater than the Percentage warning threshold for deliveries. The warning is raised if the threshold is achieved or exceeded.

Depending on the context or choice, the calculation may be based on the current estimation (the one visibile in project or service Estimationtab) or the estimation related to the last executed project milestone or service review. The monetary value of the risks is calculated as the sum of the Weighed Value (which is the multiplication of Value and Probability) for all the open risks (those with Close Flag set to "False").

Percentage (a number in the range 0-100) calculated as monetary value of the opened risks divided the budgeted cost of the project or service.
