Configuration steps from scratch

This section covers the basic configuration of itmSUITE® from scratch.(when no data is present) This includes:

  1. Application settings
  2. Company creation
  3. License configuration
  4. Admin user creation
  5. Cross master data

It is recommended to perform the configuration in the order listed. For more information on how to perform each configuration step refer to the dedicated page.

Application settings

In General/System/Application Settings some key settings shall be defined.for the itmSUITE® environment To manage them first of all you shall access as a superadmin to the system. See the page Application Settings page for more details.

Other environment configurations, available under General/System, are the following:

General/System/Companies Companies It allows to create or update company information.
General/System/Help Editor Help Editor This allows to configure the help system with custom entries. Please refer to Help system page for more information on the help system.
General/System/License Info Licenses It allows to enter license keys to activate itmSUITE® modules and users for the companies..
General/System/User Management Users It allows to manage users.
General/System/Adm. Functions N/A This leads to a page where several administration functionalities are available. See Admin kit page for more information.
General/System/LM Settings LDAP

NTLM

It allows to setup LDAP, NTLM and NTLM2 configuration. See LDAP and NTLM page for more information.
General/System/Import from LDAP Users It allows to import users information from a LDAP server.

General/System/OCE Setup N/A It allows to activate the OCE module.
General/System/Action Engine Setup N/A It allows to activate the Action engine component. See the dedicated page for more info.
General/System/Event Types Event types It allows to configure event types. See also Notifications management page.
General/System/Forced Notifications Notifications It allows to configure notifications. See also Notifications management page.
General/System/Access Log Log info It allows to access to system log info. See Log management page for more info.

Those above are advanced configurations which are usually skipped during the initial installation apart from those needed to execute the next two steps. They may be completed later.

Company creation

Now it is time to create a company. See the Company creation and the Company management pages for more details.

License configuration

The license to activate a company shall be configured to be able to complete its activation. As a superadmin use General/System/License Info to access license management features. If you have no license key, please contact your itmSUITE® distributor or direct account to acquire one. If you have no contacts, please write to info@itmsuite.eu. Additional licences for a specific company can be added later by one of its admins.

Admin creation

The next step is to define an admin for the created company. See the Admin user creation page for more details.

Company preparation

At this stage, the admin can update some company master data and settings which will be applied to the company environment.These are:

General/System/License Info Licenses It allows to enter license keys to activate itmSUITE® modules and users for the companies. The licenses can be managed only for the administered company.
General/System/User Management Users It allows to manage users (only for the administered company).
General/System/Forced Notifications Notifications It allows to configure notifications for the administered company. See also Notifications management page.
General/System/Admin kit N/A It allows to launch administration functionalities and utilities. See Admin kit page for more information.
General/Company/Company Info Companies It allows to complete and update the company information. See the Company management page for more details.
General/Company/MURM MURM It allows to manage managers rights.

Company master data

Once the above preliminary configuration are completed, a manager may finalize the configuration of the company. For the data managed via manager shall have Company cross master data may now be prepared. By cross master data, we mean those data used by more than one key modules of itmSUITE®. See the Cross master data page for more details.

itmSUITE® master data can be accessed from the General menu. Master data access and editing is possible only for user types "Manager" and if the user has been given the necessary grant to read or update specific master data in MURM functionality.

The master data set comprises the following:

Configuration steps with the default database installed

itmSUITE® installation pacakge is provided with an initial configuration corresponding to a demo environment, It is still recommended to go through the configuration steps described in the previous paragraph in order to get acquainted with the demo environment content and to change configurations according to the needs.
